The President's Welcome
Mrs. Josianne Fleming-Artsen M.A., M.Ed.Welcome! I would like to thank you for your interest in the University of St. Martin. I hope that USM becomes your primary destination as you embark on your college career.

The 21st Century calls for the importance of education and specially post-secondary education to be re-emphasized. At our University, students' thinking is refined; a sense of purpose is nurtured and instilled as they are introduced to the challenges across the curriculum. At the same time, students are challenged regarding their values; being critical about issues and enabling their judgment to grow with their analytic skills. In essence, the University of St. Martin provides students with the virtues of a small arts and business college and the curricular richness of a large university. And we are still growing!

Currently our offerings in the Associate Degree programs in General Liberal Arts; Business Management and Hospitality; and Computer Science, and Bachelor of Arts degree in Teacher Education are competitive to offerings around the world. The same applies to non-degree programs such as the Adult Enrichment Program (AEP), English as a Second Language (ESL), General Equivalency Diploma, and College Preparatory programs. And, as far as our facilities are concerned, Phase II, which includes the construction of more classrooms, and Phase III, which includes dormitories, are still in the planning stages but should be realized in due time.

Thus, it is viable to say that the future of the University of St. Martin continues to be shaped by its values while it caters to the needs and expectations of its students. At the same time, USM's role of shaping and transforming students remains high priority. With all the articulation agreements, working relationships, and affiliations that USM has with other institutions in the Caribbean, United States, Europe and Canada, your educational journey, once you graduate and leave USM, can only be determined by you and your willingness to learn.

I wish you much success in your educational journey.

Mrs. Josianne Fleming-Artsen M.A., M.Ed.
USM President
